As Birdon General Manager, Peter is responsible for the Australian operations of the family-owned company, overseeing all aspects of Marine, Dredging, Engineering and Disposals throughout each state. A graduate of the Institute of Company Directors, he has held numerous leadership and representative positions across public, private and not-for-profit sectors.

As Mayor of Port Macquarie-Hastings for successive terms from 2012, Peter lead the Council out of Administration after 5 years to be awarded the AR Bluett Award for the best Council in NSW, with an annual turnover of more than $190 million and 550 FTE staff.

During this time, Peter was also appointed as the interim CEO of Mid North Coast Regional Development Australia, steering a leadership and relocation transition of the organisation during a difficult period.

As a former Member of the NSW Parliament’s Legislative Assembly, Peter sat as an Independent member representing the seat of Port Macquarie from 2008-2011.

Prior to a move into the political sphere, Peter was a professional rugby player, representing the NSW Waratahs in the Super 12 competition and spending three years in Japan playing for Nihon IBM. In 1999, Peter received the Ken Catchpole Medal for the best player in the Sydney club competition and in 2000 was awarded an Australian Sports Medal for his services to rugby.
