The Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX), Superyacht Australia and the Australian Commercial Marine Group are proud to announce the 11th Annual Australian Marine Industry Award finalists. Eight award categories across the marine export, superyacht and commercial sectors will recognise and celebrate best practices, excellence, innovation and dedication. The winners for each category will be recognised at a Gala Dinner held on Wednesday, May 18, at Southport Yacht Club.

The 2022 Marine Industry Exporter of the Year award recognises business performance through exports over the most recent financial year and attracted seven finalists. Congratulations to Aqualuma LED Lighting, Ayres Lightweight Panel Systems, Fliteboard, GC Marine, Marine Airflow International, Rainman Desalination and Riviera Australia. This award will be presented by The Whiskey Project Group.

The 2022 Commercial Marine Project/Design or Manufacturer of the Year award identifies product manufacture, design and shipbuilding within the Commercial Category in the Australian commercial marine sector. Finalists are Aus Ships, Echo Marine / VEEM, E-Class Outboards, GC Marine, Harwood Marine, Planet Wrap, Rivergate Marina and Shipyard and Spear Green Designs. Sydney City Marine is the Presenting Partner for this award.

The 2022 Commercial Marine Service Provider of the Year award acknowledges the committed service provided by each business to the Australian commercial marine sector. Our 2022 finalists include Planet Wrap, Harwood Marine, Spear Green Design, Sydney City Marine and The Yard Brisbane. The Presenting Partner for this award is Volvo Penta.

With 2022 seeing a continued boom in the Superyacht Industry, the judges’ panel faced a competitive field of submissions. Ten finalists in the 2022 Superyacht Industry Service Provider of the Year category gave a unique insight into what is to come for the superyacht industry in the future. Congratulations to finalists Coral Sea Marina Resort, Crew Pacific, Southport Yacht Club, The Superyacht People, The Yard Brisbane, Quality Marine Clothing, Shute Harbour, Marine Airflow International, The Boat Work, Sanctuary Cove Marina and Rivergate Marina and Shipyard. Bank of Queensland – Business is the Presenting Partner for this highly competitive award.

The 2022 Superyacht Marine Project/Design or Manufacturer of the Year award acknowledges the outstanding products designed or manufactured by Australian businesses within the superyacht Industry. The finalists include GC Marine, Southport Yacht Club and The Boat Works. Echo Yachts will be the presenting partner for this award category.

Three Australian marine industry categories open the door for nominations and provide the opportunity for all marine industry sectors to be in the running for the awards. The 2022 Marine Industry Champion award recognises an outstanding individual’s efforts in the marine sector and how they have contributed to the success of the Australian marine industry. The finalists are Gio Cervella from Harwood Marine, Brad Marsden from Marine Airflow International, Wes Moxey from Riviera and William Kikuchi from The Yard Brisbane. Rivergate Marina and Shipyard will present the Marine Industry Champion for 2022.

The 2022 Marine Industry Apprentice of the Year award was created to recognise and reward apprentices for outstanding performance and commitment to the marine industry. In its third year, this highly competitive award offers a much sought-after prize for the winning apprentice – an all-inclusive trip to METSTRADE 2022 in Amsterdam. Congratulations to this year’s finalists: Blake Frazer from Onboard Engineering and Zack Tagget from Riviera. The calibre of these dedicated and hardworking apprentices will encourage continued excellence within the industry. Once again, TAFE Queensland will be the presenting partner for the Marine Industry Apprentice of the Year award.

The 2022 Marketing Strategy of the Year award acknowledges the success of an innovative and effective marketing strategy implemented between January 1 – and December 31, 2022. The award finalists are E-Class Outboards, Fliteboard and Vaarzon – Morel Solicitors. Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show will present the winner of this category.

The Australian Marine Industry Awards will be held at Southport Yacht Club on Wednesday, May 18, 2022.
