With a career spanning nearly 40 years as a ground-breaking Naval Architect in the marine industry, Steve Quigley’s love of boats was ignited at the age of 5, sailing on Port Hacking with his father in a Heron dinghy.
With an honours degree in Naval Architecture from the University of NSW, Steve’s professional career began at Incat Designs in the early 1980’s working with industry leaders Phil Hercus and Robert Clifford while the rapid evolution of the high-speed ferry market was underway. As director of production at Incat Designs, Steve was instrumental in forging a long-standing association with internationally renowned and world leading shipyards.
His passion for all things marine has been evident throughout adulthood and has inspired his entire life’s work, leading him to establish O2T in 1997.
Steve has always spent his spare time mucking around in boats. He has represented Australia in the Olympic class 470’s and holds multiple World Championship titles in many classes including Mumm 30’s and 18ft Skiffs. Currently he is a member of the Wild Oats XI Maxi Yacht crew and has notched up six Sydney to Hobart Yacht races with multiple line honours wins.
